About Rooh

Rooh is an AI storytelling companion for children in India. A parent speaks to Rooh about their child's day, what happened, what they felt, what they struggled with, and Rooh transforms that into a personalised adventure story where the child is the hero. The story is then narrated in the cloned voice of a loved one, such as a grandparent.
Rooh means "soul" in Hindi and Urdu. It is not just an app. It is a presence. It breathes when you open it. It listens. It responds with warmth and intention. The name reflects what we want it to be: something that matters.
Rooh is for parents of children aged 5 to 8 in India. Families who value screen safety, moral education, and the intimacy of a story told by someone who loves their child, at bedtime, naptime, or any quiet moment in between. It is also for the grandparents and relatives who live far away and want to be present at bedtime every night.
Rooh is built by Navu Raah, a bootstrapped studio founded by a parent who could not find a storytelling app worthy of his child's imagination. Built lean, built with intention, and rebuilt from scratch based on real feedback. Every decision comes down to one question: is this worthy of the most important moment of a child's day?
Rooh is launching in July 2026 on iOS in India. Join the waitlist and we will notify you the moment it is ready, and share pricing with you first.

The Stories

Each night, you tell Rooh what happened in your child's day. Rooh suggests values to weave into the story, things like sharing, patience, or courage. You confirm or adjust. Then Rooh generates a three-part adventure: The Crossing (the magical world opens), The Trial (a challenge rises, stakes grow), and The Return (something shifts, the lesson lands quietly, without announcement). Your child's choices shape the story at each turn.
Yes. Their real name. Their real friends. Their real world, transformed. If your daughter had an argument with her friend Priya at school today, tonight there will be a story where she and Priya face a dragon together and have to decide whether to share the only lantern. The lesson is never stated. It is felt.
Wisdom arrives through the story, never through a lecture. Rooh never says "sharing is good." Instead, your child makes a choice, and the story shows them what follows. They carry the feeling with them. The lesson belongs to them.
Yes. At key moments, Rooh offers two paths, spoken aloud and shown on screen. Your child can say "one" or "two," or tap their choice. The story branches based on what they choose. No wrong answers. Every path leads somewhere meaningful.
Rooh is designed for children aged 5 to 8. This is the window when children are beginning to understand consequence, when stories shape their moral imagination, and when the voice of a loved one at bedtime is still magic.
Stories are designed to last 10 to 15 minutes. Long enough to take a child on a real journey, short enough to end before they drift off. The audio plays at a gentle 0.90x speed. Soft. Slow. Made for the dark.

Voice Cloning

A loved one, whether it is grandma, grandpa, a parent, or anyone your child trusts, records three short guided prompts in the app. It takes about five minutes. Rooh sends those recordings to a secure AI voice cloning service, which creates a voice model. From that night forward, every story is narrated in their voice.
You can add multiple voices and choose which one narrates each story. Some families set up both Dadi and Nana. Some use a parent's voice for weekdays and a grandparent's for weekends. The choice is yours.
No. That is the whole point. Once the voice is cloned, Rooh can narrate every story in that voice, even if the grandparent is in another city, another country, or simply not available that evening. Their presence is preserved.
Experience it and listen for yourself. It gives you goosebumps. Rooh uses one of the most advanced voice cloning services in the world. The clone captures tone, warmth, and cadence. It is not perfect. It is a clone, not the person. But it is close enough that children often ask if Dadi is really speaking to them.

Safety & Privacy

Completely. Rooh has zero ads, zero outbound links, zero dark patterns, no social features, and no data sold. There is nothing in this app designed to capture your child's attention against your wishes. A parent can hand Rooh to a child as their only app and feel good about it.
Almost. The screen is confirmation, not the interface. The real experience is audio, designed for darkness, for stillness, for closed eyes. The screen shows who is speaking, what choice is available, and the story title. Everything meaningful happens through the ears.
The child's profile (name, age, friends, language preference) is stored locally on your device. Story history is saved locally. We do not run a cloud database of your child's information. Full data practices will be detailed in our privacy policy, available at launch.
English and Hindi, with more planned. Rooh is built India-first. Stories can be told in the language your family actually speaks, including the natural code-switching between Hindi and English that most urban Indian families use at home.
